Rare Mortens Studio Doberman Pinscher Dog Figurine

This is a very hard to find Mortens Studio piece of a lying Doberman Pinscher. It is a good size piece at 4.5” tall and 7.75” long. The designer of this figurine, Oscar Morten, immigrated from Sweden to the U.S. and opened a gift ware studio in Chicago in 1931. Over the next 32 years, he created over 300 popular dog and
horse models. Composed of ceramic over a metal skeleton, these figurines, although beautiful and
engaging, were prone to crazing and flaking, thus making it difficult, today, to find examples, like this
one, in such great condition. This one does have minimal crazing however it is hard to see on the black coat even with high magnification, There is one very small chip on the front left foot. See photos for details.
