This auction is for a vintage gold metal music / jewelry box. It is very ornate. The sides have a Greek key pattern that has pearled panels underneath. The top is surrounded with flowers while the side has an Ivy pattern. My photos really don't show the intricate details. The inside has a red velvet lining that can be removed to see a lower red velvet tray. The lower tray can be removed to see the music box works. The music box is marked "Switzerland Lador". Lador was pre Reuge. Lador was founded in 1889 by Adrien Lador followed by his son and grandson until absorbed by Reuge. The music box works. I don't recognize the music, but it does sound like a waltz. The music box measures approximately 8" wide, 6" deep and 3-1/2" tall. It has a picture frame top. I don't know what was there originally but I put a picture of two girls in. It could be removed and another put in, perhaps a photo. The box is in good shape. The metal is a little tarnished, the velvet a little worn. The music box works has a little rust. This is an"As-Is" auction so please see all photos and feel free to ask questions.
